PHILOSOPHY ON EXERCISE
Have your appearance be a by-product of your athleticism... not your
athleticism a by-product of your appearance. In other words, don't exercise
simply to make your muscles look good, but so that your muscles function at
a high level in all your daily activities.
THE REST OF THE STORY
My path into the world
of health and fitness was laid by my father. I was very athletic as a
child, but extremely skinny. My father thought it would be a good idea to
begin weight training to increase my size and my strength when I was about
14. Well, I hated it! We would go into his cellar and he would PUSH me,
but all I wanted to do was be outside playing ball. Needless to say, by the
time I was about 16 my body had started making noticeable changes, and now I
was beginning to really enjoy strength training. I collected every
bodybuilding magazine and book that I could, and by the time I was 17 I
competed in my first bodybuilding contest. I got my first job at a gym when
I was 18, but it went out of business by the time I was 20. I did grunt
work until I was 28 and decided I needed a career change. I got my ACE
personal trainer certification and started working at here at Saco Sport and
Fitness in 1998. I have met a lot of great people since I started working
here and really enjoy working in a field that allows me to have a positive
impact on people’s lives. I have 2 wonderful children that have an interest
in sports/exercise and hope that I can have the influence on them that my
father had on me.
